throughout the course of this semester I grew into a more confident and daring artist. At the beginning of the year I was very nervous about working with clay, but now it is one of my favorite mediums. I was really inspired by what was going on in my life this year, and I hope to be able to draw from that inspiration even as the course ends. I would really like to continue sculpting, because I really liked the feeling of accomplishment that I got after I finished a piece. Plus, I have a bunch of cool new things to decorate my room!

This piece is called "Man Hanging Out," by David Cerny. My interpretation of this piece is that this person's life is crumbling around him. All the people around him are going on with their lives like nothing is wrong, which is why the sculpture is placed in a busy city street. meanwhile the person in the sculpture is barely hanging on.
I found it really difficult to execute my ideas. I would start a piece with a specific look in my mind, but I had a lot of trouble creating that piece. It was really hard for me understand how the sculpture should be made. In the future I should plan out the project and steps ahead of time, so that creating it will be less challenging.
Personally, I think that the Giroctopus was my least successful piece. This piece was meant to evoke a silly and goofy kind of feeling. It was a response to the emotions assignment. While I do think that this piece resembles "silly" I don't like the way that the tentacles turned out. If I were to redo the project, I would make the tentacles out of clay instead of adding them on later.
The "Cone Cave" project was my most successful. It was an installation piece, where we had to set it up in our school. In order to make the installation we rolled up the cones one by one and the glued them to poster board. Once we had all the cones we needed we taped the poster board to the ceiling to make it look as though the cones were a cave. We spent a lot of time on our piece and I am very proud of our work.
